An out-of-town trip. A recently discovered hole-in-the-wall. A would-be pastime. A short silly talk. An interesting brew.

Inception is zero cool!

It all started with the URCC Havoc’s unfamiliar fight card. But instead of watching a series of untried matches this coming Saturday after his b-ballgame, we ended up buying Upper Box A tickets for the Rain or Shine vs Derby Ace and Alaska vs Ginebra plays at the last minute. It could have been a hot PBA night time, but I didn’t know there was such a thing as Standing Room Only in Araneta. No idea really. So, we settled on selling the PBA tickets (thanks to the two guys who trusted us), and purchasing two prime seats to watch Inception. It turned out to be a clever choice. [The succeeding paragraphs contain spoilers.]

Rock-Solid Backbone

Wrap up my 2009 Currently-Reading and To-Read countersthen compile new ones.
Spend time with my parents as much as I can— because holidays seem so short and everyone’s getting older.
Back to watching at least two films of any kind each week— since my viewing history has been pretty limited to Hollywood flick downloads, Ellen, Glee, TMZ, and other ETC/Jack TV series.
Revisit my sketchpad— and my charcoal set.
Wakeboard— a one-year overdue goal. Shame on me.
Be more productive like clockwork in my cube— not necessarily mean having to stay for grueling hours but more of plotting tasks sensibly and in good time.
Spend smart— it’s not just all about saving hard.
Stay healthy without being self-conscious— moderate what we eat, jog on a regular basis, take thorough medical checkup earnestly.
Execute some crazy plans— slightly ambitious, but who knows.

Swan’s Beastie Boys

I’ve had a bunch of pending movie and book reviews in our cupboards. And they would probably stay there until December. Anyway, I’d start with the most recent weekender picture that we had last week at Greenbelt 3 Cinema 2 (which audio system we promote ). But before I begin, I’d like to warn you that this entry contains SPOILERS.

Brewing Sessions has two new pages, one of which has been discreetly existing on this Web site for the past couple of months. The Cupboards page contains a list of books that interest us and the Hot Spots page summarizes the places that we have visited since 2005. Although we decided to publish these pages, we are still in the process of updating corresponding lists and descriptions. We are getting down on our knees for the eyesore they might bring.

Seeing Blindness

Suppose that blindness is contagious, epidemic. Suppose that blindness does not equate to darkness or the absence of light, but rather the abundance of it. What then? These are just some of the tough nuts to crack in the film Blindness by the filmmaker Fernando Meirelles, the same guy responsible for the City of God.

Stunner

At the height of the double-time preparation for the category 3 Typhoon Pepeng here in Metro Manila last Thursday, my buddy and I snatched a few minutes infront of the tube, watching with all interest the replay soccer match of Brazil and Italy on a sports channel. Was it on ESPN? There were two channels airing two different soccer games that night. I have found out just yesterday that the match happened last June 21, 2009 during the FIFA Confederations Cup. Club jersey number 10 Kaká, who is my favorite footballer of all time, was, as usual, doing his all-important passes and moves. Only a few minutes had passed since we lounged on the bed, we witnessed a first goal from Fabiano (number 9), executing a 1-0 lead for the Brazilians. To our surprise, another goal followed. With Kaká and Robinho (number 11) playing wide, Fabiano scored once again. Wow. 2-0. Then, a third goal miraculously happened. Robinho had had the ball when Dossena (number 22) of Italy intercepted and scored an own goal— to goalkeeper Buffon‘s dismay. A score generously given to Brazil, tendering a fail-safe 3-0 lead on the way to a pitiful defeat of the Italians. When could you possibly watch a soccer match with that score in less than 10 minutes? I’m telling you the match was a little out of this world.
