An out-of-town trip. A recently discovered hole-in-the-wall. A would-be pastime. A short silly talk. An interesting brew.

The past several weeks of goings-on was overpowering. There was the tricky timetable with the GA release prep for my EVM product crisscrossing my security admin tool tasks. The recognition of that missing piece at 3am almost a month ago even added insult to injury. To magnify the damage, my buddy and I swallowed hitches while waiting for my retention plan’s unit. And, the last blow was the unfortunate event in front of the Quirino Grandstand two Mondays ago. Sigh. When it rains, it pours. I’m just grateful to have those regular and unexpected longer runs. The weather has been considerate, and not even one instance of stabbing pain under my lower ribcage occurred while I was on the running track. Juggling Blue October, The Afters , and Joshua Radin in my iPod during my daily commute has been a nice extra reliever, too. I’m dying to pack up and start my weeklong vacation with my family.

Something really good has happened at work in the midst of our stretched-out preparation for beta release. And what a cool way to whoop it up with a personal favorite Pinoy dessert— a generous serving of lip-smacking pichi-pichi!  The first batch came from Amber‘s; the next was homemade, courtesy of my teammate Ellen (hay, sarap!).

Sweet Heart

Posted: March 8th, 2010 | Blend: Health, Plug, Vanity, Workplace | No Comments »

Last February 14, our company celebrated Heart’s Day by launching a more extensive wellness program, emphasizing personal wellness goals for its employees this fiscal year. Taking care of our hearts, literally. The program includes a subsidized blood chemistry fee to determine employees’ blood sugar and cholesterol levels, a series of seminars and consultation with certified nutritionist dietitians from Intellicare and Nestlé (which I really appreciate, and hope other people will have the same chance to sit in because the information is indeed an eye-opener), Biggest Loser/Gainer Challenge (because being healthy does not only involve losing some pounds but, sometimes, gaining more), and free various workout sessions at Slimmer’s World.

Rock-Solid Backbone

Wrap up my 2009 Currently-Reading and To-Read countersthen compile new ones.
Spend time with my parents as much as I can— because holidays seem so short and everyone’s getting older.
Back to watching at least two films of any kind each week— since my viewing history has been pretty limited to Hollywood flick downloads, Ellen, Glee, TMZ, and other ETC/Jack TV series.
Revisit my sketchpad— and my charcoal set.
Wakeboard— a one-year overdue goal. Shame on me.
Be more productive like clockwork in my cube— not necessarily mean having to stay for grueling hours but more of plotting tasks sensibly and in good time.
Spend smart— it’s not just all about saving hard.
Stay healthy without being self-conscious— moderate what we eat, jog on a regular basis, take thorough medical checkup earnestly.
Execute some crazy plans— slightly ambitious, but who knows.

Cribs Episode with Santa Claus

Last time, I shared with you the Greynautz animation by Pictoys. This time, and again in the spirit of Christmas, I’d like to introduce to you the hiphop Santa from “the real North Pole, if you know what I mean”. But, but, but— parental guidance is so advised.

Trick-or-Treaters

Posted: November 3rd, 2009 | Blend: Family, Workplace | No Comments »

Trick or TreatOur company had its annual Trick or Treat last Friday. It’s a sort of family day for all employees, who enthusiastically dress up their kids (own kids, nieces or nephews, or any kid they want to bring) in the scariest or cutest thing they can fnd for Halloween. We took Gabi as a pixie to the party. Gab and her mom Giselle initially wanted her to become a lady bee then a forest fairy until my buddy and I were able to find this piece of outfit that would look nicely on her. That was after two to three hours of roaming around Makati malls. She filled up her large green pumpkin and her Tito‘s camera bag with sweets, and sang Moon River before a large audience brought together in the small Rizal 1 and 2 rooms— making her mom and granny very proud.

Bragging Rights

Two 1-liner Microsoft ads, a horizontal top banner and a square side banner, greeted my first browse today. The lure worked. I followed the hyperlinks and found out that a matching 30-seconder campaign carrying the same message has just been launched this week.
