The past several weeks of goings-on was overpowering. There was the tricky timetable with the GA release prep for my EVM product crisscrossing my security admin tool tasks. The recognition of that missing piece at 3am almost a month ago even added insult to injury. To magnify the damage, my buddy and I swallowed hitches while waiting for my retention plan’s unit. And, the last blow was the unfortunate event in front of the Quirino Grandstand two Mondays ago. Sigh. When it rains, it pours. I’m just grateful to have those regular and unexpected longer runs. The weather has been considerate, and not even one instance of stabbing pain under my lower ribcage occurred while I was on the running track. Juggling Blue October, The Afters , and Joshua Radin in my iPod during my daily commute has been a nice extra reliever, too. I’m dying to pack up and start my weeklong vacation with my family.

Our UP acad oval sprint last Saturday afternoon was good (although Sunday’s car-less oval would’ve been better). I like the fact that the admin has implemented a one-way traffic scheme, designating the oval’s inner lane to bikers and joggers. The next day, however, was our cheat day in time for our Inception date, consuming loads of carbo and fats. But the closing moments was Burger King, which has shifted to trans-fat-free cooking oil. Swear, ask nutritionist-dietitians. Unfortunately, I missed the run yesterday, too whacked to wake up. Past 6AM is already a late call time for me. The sunlight is more demanding than the number of rounds I have to complete. Good thing Thursday was rest day to make up for our product release overtime last weekend. Back to early morning run. ![]()
We’ve been regulars of the track for a couple of years (or so) now. It’s time to multiply the cadence— favoring cushioning. Having a neighborhood track, the Pandacan Linear Park, has pushed us to keep on running. We usually do our late afternoon and weekday sprints there. We also became frequenters of the Roxas Boulevard and CCP grounds, serving as a sound alternate trail. But since these two places are almost always crammed full on weekends, we diverted to Roxas Boulevard-Quirino Grandstand grounds circuit, which offers a good running surface and atmosphere. We usually hit the ground either as early as 5AM or near sundown, plus a combined 30-minute pre and post-run stretching. Trust us, the whole warm-up and cool-down routine brings magic. ![]()
Last February 14, our company celebrated Heart’s Day by launching a more extensive wellness program, emphasizing personal wellness goals for its employees this fiscal year. Taking care of our hearts, literally. The program includes a subsidized blood chemistry fee to determine employees’ blood sugar and cholesterol levels, a series of seminars and consultation with certified nutritionist dietitians from Intellicare and Nestlé (which I really appreciate, and hope other people will have the same chance to sit in because the information is indeed an eye-opener), Biggest Loser/Gainer Challenge (because being healthy does not only involve losing some pounds but, sometimes, gaining more), and free various workout sessions at Slimmer’s World.
I know some of you have already read this message from our Yahoo! Groups accounts late last night. Kooky, thanks for the prompt response. I’m posting the same content for those who have not yet received it and for anyone who could help us.
Three weeks ago, my buddy came home with a piece of paper containing a short recipe list. He told me that we would include several boxes of apple juice, extra virgin olive oil, and lemon in our grocery list for the week. I got curious. Is this some kind of a crucial diet? Sort of apparently. He explained to me this alternative treatment that he had just learned about eliminating gallstones without the expensive and invasive gallstone surgery. It’s called gallstone flush. If this thing would work for him, he advised me to consider doing it as well.
Our typical Sunday morning starts with buying hot pandesal and a newspaper, and preparing our cup of coffee. Then, we spend an hour or two reading the paper, exchanging sections– the front page first for me and the Sports section first for him. The coffee serves as a filler as we browse from one page to the next, giving our unsolicited personal commentaries from time to time [although he prefers reading in silence and I prefer sharing any interesting info with him as soon as I finish reading that particular topic]. Looking out for Gabi as she messes around serves as interlude.
