These random shots were taken last Saturday— Nay‘s one day advance birthday celebration at the Mall of Asia. We’ve been relying lately on our Olympus µ 1050 SW (or the Olympus Stylus 1050 SW released in the US) point-and-shoot digital camera, especially when Gabi is with us. Watching over a bulky camera bag with a DSLR kit is a little agonizing while you are also keeping an eye on a hyper kid like Gab, who could run in any direction at anytime. The difference in resolution is very apparent, though. But the images are good enough to capture a few delightful, fleeting instances.
Going back, the original plan was to bring the family to the Powerplant Mall (since my buddy and I still had had a hangover of our Som’s visit). But since Nay had been working overtime (even on weekends) this February, we eventually agreed to change location to save some travel time. After our Kopi Roti short stopover, my buddy and I fixed on a suprise Manila Bay cruise as a fair substitute. Unfortunately, when we got there at the Metrostar Ferry Terminal, all scheduled cruises for that day had been cancelled. We presupposed that those cruise ships had already been reserved for the more pricey Valentine’s Day cruises with buffet dinner promo. So, we just spent some time strolling along the bay side area, where we discovered Bungee Fun and a hoop station with two exaggeratedly high basketball rings (which he tried by the way, pulling off one clean basket). After less than two hours, we settled on Burgoo for dinner.
We had my Pa’s favorite— a hefty serving of Seafood Jambalaya (good for four persons, PHP495), a large traditional Pepperoni Pizza (PHP245), a regular Spaghetti Bolognese for Gab (good for two persons, PHP195), and drinks. The knock out was the Shrimp and Ribs Platter that included barbecued baby back ribs, sausage slices, Cajun spiced fried prawns, french fries, and grilled sweet corn on the cob (PHP 595), which our obliging attendant Brian served for free because we were able to meet their promo conditions— a minimum purchase of PHP1,000 and an EastWest Bank credit card to be used for the transaction. Not bad at all, huh? Our dinner only amounted to a little over PHP1,500, with a sizeable portion of the steak and pasta leftovers for take home. ![]()
